Newport Beach, 1st September, 2014 – Qliktag Software Inc. an innovator of mobile software solutions has announced the signing on of GS1 Belgium & Luxembourg for its online product data aggregator platform Q*Aggregator which has been used by the GS1 to deploy “Trustbox” for its members and in turn, consumers. Through Qliktag’s Q*Aggregator platform, GS1 Belgium has been able to offer its member manufacturers and brands reliable, verified and complete product data and product label information online using Trustbox making this product data available to consumers while they shop online or use mobile devices to scan barcodes on products in stores. With the deployment of Trustbox, the GS1 has also ‘EU/1169’ compliance standards by delivering 1169/2011EU food and nutrition information to customers who may scan labeling barcodes before purchasing a food item.
The EU/1169 compliance standards implies among other aspects, a consumer must have all important information and data points about pre-packaged food items before an actual purchase is made. This could include product information like nutrition information, allergens, ingredients, expiration dates, claims, warnings and other data points. Brands and manufacturers are responsible for making this data available to consumers both online as well as on packaging for offline retail.
GS1 Belgium & Luxembourg which signed on to use Q*Aggregator earlier in June have full integration with GDSN and opened the platform to members branded as Trustbox with a rapid turnaround time. Since the launch, well over 500 GS1 member manufacturers and brands have registered onto the platform and started using Trustbox to compile and share product data with consumers. “Our Q*Aggregator solution on which Trustbox was created ensures accurate, verified and complete product data from brands and manufacturers that consumers can completely rely on versus relying on online data uploaded by users which can often be inaccurate, incomplete or unverified” says Dilip Daswani, CEO of Qliktag Software Inc. “GS1 Belgium has over 500 members already using the platform to deliver product data with more registrations coming through each week and have been able to facilitate EU/1169 compliance for members very quickly” Daswani adds.
According to GS1 Belgium, retailers and online stores can now become EU/1169 compliant and brand owners can be confident they can maintain control over the product information consumers are seeing through a single data source and trust is not eroded between consumers and brands since the accuracy of product data can be controlled.
